We started this because spreadsheets weren't cutting it anymore
Financial comparison shouldn't feel like homework. We built elthoraviaq to help Australian businesses see what actually matters when choosing between companies.
Back in early 2024, a group of us were sitting around trying to compare vendors for a project. Everyone had different spreadsheets, different criteria, and honestly? We were all getting different conclusions from the same data.
That's when it clicked. The problem wasn't the information – it was how scattered everything was. So we spent most of 2024 building what became elthoraviaq, testing it with real businesses across New South Wales and Queensland.
By the time 2026 rolled around, we'd learned that good comparison isn't about having more data. It's about having the right context at the right moment. That's what we focus on now.
What drives us every day
These aren't just nice words on a website. They're the filters we use when making decisions about features, partnerships, and how we work with clients.
Clarity over complexity
We've seen too many comparison tools that require a finance degree to understand. Our approach is different – present the facts clearly and let you decide what matters for your specific situation.
Context matters
A great deal for a manufacturing company in Melbourne might be completely wrong for a retail business in Brisbane. We help you filter comparisons based on what's actually relevant to your industry and location.
Speed with substance
Quick answers are only useful if they're accurate. We built our platform to deliver fast comparisons without sacrificing the depth you need to make confident decisions.
Real relationships
We're not trying to be everything to everyone. We focus on Australian businesses that need straightforward financial comparisons, and we're pretty good at that specific thing.
Honest limitations
Our tools work best for certain types of comparisons. When something's outside our wheelhouse, we'll tell you upfront rather than trying to force a fit that doesn't serve you.
Always improving
The way businesses evaluate partners keeps changing. We update our comparison frameworks regularly based on feedback from people actually using them in real scenarios.
How we actually work with you
- Start with understanding your specific comparison needs – not a generic template everyone gets
- Build comparison frameworks that match how your industry evaluates vendors and partners
- Present data in formats that make sense for your team's decision-making process
- Provide context about Australian market conditions that might affect your comparison
- Keep updating comparisons as new information becomes available throughout your evaluation
- Support your team with straightforward explanations when financial metrics get confusing
Meet someone from our team
We're a group of about fifteen people split between Port Macquarie and Sydney. Here's one of the folks who helps make elthoraviaq work.
Brynhild Soelberg
Senior Financial Analyst
Brynhild joined us in mid-2025 after spending eight years doing corporate finance analysis for a mid-size consultancy in Sydney. She got tired of building the same comparison models over and over for different clients.
Now she works on improving how our platform handles complex financial structures – things like mixed pricing models or unusual contract terms that don't fit neat categories. When businesses contact us confused about why two seemingly similar companies have different pricing, Brynhild's usually the one who figures out the underlying structure.
Outside work, she's learning woodworking and frequently mentions how cutting joints is surprisingly similar to financial modeling. We don't really see it, but the bookshelf she built for the office is pretty solid.
